The 2012 MDE School Leadership Summit: Minnesota on the Move will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 7th and 8th, at the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest (formerly the Northland Inn) in Brooklyn Park. This conference was formerly known as the MDE Superintendents Back-to School Conference.
The feedback I have received over this last year indicated that MASA members wanted a professional development opportunity they can attend with members of their leadership team. Due to that feedback, we thought we’d give the team format a try and are encouraging you to bring your team to this conference. The School Leadership Summit provides a unique opportunity for superintendents, directors, coordinators and principals to learn together and have powerful dialogue that will support collaboration and creativity as we prepare for the new school year. What a great way to kick-off the 2012-2013 school year!
Our keynote speaker is Tony Wagner, author of The Global Achievement Gap. In his Tuesday morning session, Tony will share with us his groundbreaking work that explores what parents, teachers, and employers must do to develop the capacities of young people to become innovators. Conference participants will receive a copy of Tony’s newest book, Creating Innovators, The Making of Young People Who Will Change the World.
Commissioner Cassellius and her staff will also lead discussions regarding creative organizations, managing change and harnessing shared opportunity. Updates on the principal and teacher evaluations will also be presented.
I encourage you to register your team TODAY and take advantage of this great professional development opportunity. Registration is available on the MASA website. I look forward to seeing you on August 7th and 8th!
Thanks!
Gary A.
