You Can Do This!

As I write this, we are a day closer to the full implementation of Distance Learning in Minnesota. Thank you for all of your efforts to date! I know these can be challenging times. Your staff and community are looking to you for leadership. As educators, we have an opportunity to provide an example of how one needs to move through the coming months. I know each of you will answer the call and serve your students, staff, and community in an exemplary fashion.

The Journey Continues

As I write this, we are on day 2 of the "planning period" for our school districts. I know the term “uncharted waters” can be overused, but we truly are in uncharted waters. A point I made at our spring conference last week was that there will be times during the coming days, weeks and months that people will not treat you in an appropriate manner. This may be out of fear, anxiety or some other emotion related to the COVID-19 challenge that we are all facing. We are the education leaders in this state. I know that you will work with your staff, parents, and community with passion, patience, and understanding. As always, I am here for you. I may not have all of the answers, but together we will make it through this time of challenge and fear.
