Here’s the scoop for the week

5% & 5% and Fully Fund the Cross Subsidy!

I have been in a number of hearings and individual meetings with legislators where I have heard support for 5% & 5% with future increases tied to inflation along with funding the cross subsidy. Please continue to support these two priorities on MASA’s 2023 Legislative Platform.

“Swatting” Incidents Reoccurring:

Earlier this year some school districts experienced swatting incidents where schools received phone calls and messages falsely claiming impending violence at a particular school building in order to distract law enforcement. The calls came from out of state and in some cases were believed to be from outside the United States. Unfortunately, there were similar calls in school districts across the state during this past week.

Here are templates I sent to you in September 2022 that you may feel free to use/update should your district be impacted, or if your constituents have questions.

Have you had a Chance to Complete the MASBO Budget Survey?

MASA and MASBO members received an email on Wednesday to complete an important school district budget survey that will assist in advocacy efforts to let our legislators know the financial impacts school districts will face with proposed legislation. Your assistance in completing the survey with your business manager/director by March 8 will be greatly appreciated!
