Here’s the scoop for the week

Together We Make a Difference Initiative

As noted in an email I sent to all active MASA members on August 3, MASA has joined other education organizations in this initiative to improve conduct at activities, events and in school. The Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) is leading the effort. Here are the training session dates for student leaders. Your activities director will have additional information to share with you. Please help identify student leaders to participate.

Session 1 – August 4 at 11:30 am 

Session 2 – August 10 at 11:30 am

Session 3 – August 17 at 11:30 am

A Bill to Watch:  Senator Tina Smith’s Addressing Teacher Shortage Act:

A one-page summary of the bill is found here and you will note that Senator Smith acknowledges the acute shortage of teachers in rural areas.

Have You Had a Chance to Complete the Superintendent Contract Survey?

In response to a request from many of our superintendents, and as a benefit of MASA membership, we are going to again collect Contract Information from those of you willing to share it.  

FAQs:

Why are we doing this?  

Collecting this contract information will allow you to review salary and benefits identified by others in similar roles in advance of your own contract negotiations.  

Who gets it? 

Information from the survey will only be shared with colleagues who have completed the survey and new superintendents negotiating their first contracts who request the information.

Will they know it's me?

Superintendent Name/District information will not be shared with others; it is collected only to know who will have access to the other survey data.

Please consider sharing your contract information by the end of the day on August 7 so we can have it ready to go - remember, the only way to GET the information is to GIVE the information.
