Here’s the scoop for the week

MN Speaker of the House Melissa Hortman announces format for the 2022 Legislative Session:

In a memo to House Members and Staff released today, Hortman wrote, “We had hoped for a normal return to session, but like private and public sector employers that have had to postpone plans for a return to in-person work, the House will continue remote and hybrid operations at least through the end of the 2022 regular session.” Later in the memo she stated, “This policy may change as health and safety conditions evolve.”

I am not aware of the Senate’s plans as of this writing. Will keep you apprised as more information is released.

This week we lost a Great American, a Great Leader, a Great Statesman:

Sadly we lost General Colin Powell this week. General Powell shared in his memoir, It Worked For Me: In Life and Leadership, his Thirteen Rules of Leadership you may find helpful:

  1. It ain’t as bad as you think. It will look better in the morning.
  2. Get mad, then get over it.
  3. Avoid having your ego so close to your position that when your position falls, your ego goes with it.
  4. It can be done!
  5. Be careful what you choose.
  6. Don’t let adverse facts stand in the way of a good decision.
  7. You can’t make someone else’s choices.
  8. Check small things.
  9. Share credit.
  10. Remain calm. Be kind.
  11. Have a vision. Be demanding.
  12. Don’t take counsel of your fears or naysayers.
  13. Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier
